Bone Densitometry

           Osteoporosis is a disease of bone that leads to an increased risk of fracture. In osteoporosis the bone mineral density  is reduced, bone microarchitecture is disrupted, and the amount and variety of non-collagenous proteins in bone is altered. It leads to a stooped posture, loss of height, and chronic pain with resultant reduction in mobility. The bone mineral density is measured through bone densitometry unit.  If there is reduction in the amount of the minera medication is given. The success of the treatment is further measured with the densitometric units.
Densitometry is essential in the following cases:

*  Post menopause
* Chronic pain in the bones
* After prosthetic and orthopaedic surgery when patients are immobile for a long time
* If given lots of birth with short intervals
* Malnutrition and not being exposed to sun for a long time

There is always a risk of osteoporosis in such cases. Therefore, bone densitometry is essential. The medication used in osteoporosis treatment is more effective when good nutrition and being exposed to sun lights are reinforced. Sun light is a perfect treasure and we should all be aware of this.

        The measurements are done through densitometry units in our hospital. In cases when osteoporosis is diagnosed, the findings are traced with densitometric analysis. Before any serious fractures or back pains, the patients are successfully treated.
